Food Services of America's Shrimp Not From China
The Food and Drug Administration’s detention of five aquacultured species originating from China does not include any Food Services of America seafood brands.
The five species affected by the FDA’s Import Alert are catfish, shrimp, basa, dace and eel.
Food Services of America is currently procuring Flying Flag brand shrimp items (raw and breaded) from Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, India or Central or South America.
The FDA advised this is not an immediate public health hazard. The levels of contaminants that have been found are very low and the agency is not advising consumers to destroy or return farm-raised seafood that they may have already purchased. The agency is not seeking a recall of products already in the marketplace.
Food Services of America is monitoring all seafood products supplied by vendors to ensure they are compliant with all requirements set forth by the FDA. As a major seafood distributor, Food Services of America fully supports the FDA’s ruling.
We stand firmly behind our policies that prohibit improper antibiotic use in our Flying Flag products. Our stated goal is to ensure that the seafood we provide to you exceed FDA standards for quality and food safety.
