March 1st US potato stocks were 11.4% bigger than last year and the largest for the month in the last ten years. Potato demand remains weak which should cause potato prices to remain below year ago levels this spring. Still, cyclical charts suggest that some additional modest potato market increases may be forthcoming. Onion supplies remain restricted. Onion imports from Mexico are anticipated to improve in the coming weeks. Yet, elevated onion prices could persist at least until the Texas harvest can reach capacity later next month. The tomato markets remain inflated.
