January US total shrimp imports were 1.5% less than a year ago due mostly to a notable decline in trade in further processed product. January US shell on shrimp imports were actually 5.2% more than a year ago. Shrimp imports could suffer in the coming months if the US dollar value remains relatively deflated and depressed US prices persist. January cod (8.5%) and pollock (9%) filet imports were both below 2009.
