Sandwiches: A World of Hamburgers

A World of Hamburgers

Whatever your menu or style of operation, hamburgers are an American tradition, one that will never go out of style. You can add value to your hamburger menu items with toppings. Toppings are popular with customers, and they allow operators to distinguish themselves from one another in unique and creative ways.

Fresh Ideas

  • Argentinean: Top with lettuce, tomato, onion, fried egg, cheese, ham, and mayonnaise.
  • Canadian: Top with crumbled blue cheese and side of sautéed onions or mushrooms.
  • Chilean: Top with a slice of freshly cut avocado.
  • Guatemalan: Top with refried beans and hot sauce.
  • German: Top with pickles, tomato, and lettuce.
  • Greek: Top with feta cheese and sliced olives or olive spread.
  • Italian: Top with red sauce, mozzarella cheese and serve on focaccia bread.
  • Mexican: Top with black beans, jalapeno peppers, and cheddar cheese.

New American Classics

  • Bavarian: Top with Thousand Island dressing, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese.
  • Pacific Rim: Top with teriyaki sauce, Monterey Jack cheese, grilled pineapple, lettuce, tomato, and red onions.
  • Rajun Cajun: Season the burger with Cajun spices, and top with melted Jack cheese.
  • South of the Border: Top with chili, Monterey Jack cheese, and jalapenos on a baked roll.

Kids' Menus

Use themes from current movies or popular television series for inspiration.

  • Feature a Star Trek Burger made with a triangular shaped hamburger patty served on triangular cut bread.
  • Kids may even eat spinach in Popeye's Pick, a burger topped with sautéed spinach and feta cheese.

Seasonal Concepts

  • For summer, choose fresh vegetables and lighter toppings, such as guacamole, salsa, avocado, and sliced roma tomatoes.
  • Offer a "Build Your Own Burger" on menus, or feature a "Burger Bar" for special events.
  • Offer a family style meal. Serve cooked hamburger patties with an assortment of breads, spreads, and toppings for a special price on a weekly or monthly basis. Serve side dishes such as potato salad and baked beans. Finish with a large banana split!
